During my time at XR Games, I had the pleasure of working on Starship Troopers: Continuum. I was responsible for taking levels in mission 4 from blockout to final polish, working with the level designers to determine the flow of travel and gameplay. We wanted the colour scheme to be quite different from previous levels, picking something unnatural and having darker lighting and more fog to create a more ominous and mysterious tone. I also wanted the canyons to look more jagged compared to the geology previously, and like they were looming over the player. As the player traverses to the darker side of the planet they find signs of an unusual fungus that appears to be taking over the planet and its inhabitants, and remnants of what appears to be research facilities.
